Volunteer!

We are currently recruiting individuals who would like to volunteer at the event. There are many components to our festival so if you have an interest in being involved, there IS a place for you.

If you are interested in any of the volunteer opportunities below please send your request to volunteers@park96.com

SUMMERFEST VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Bar Service

This is one of the most fast-paced environments at SummerFest. The crew handles all alcohol sales on site, providing nectar of the gods in our central bar. If you are friendly, responsible, can handle cash and can pour well, you’d be a great addition to this crew. Volunteers must be 18 years of age.

Entry Gate and Audience Services

Entry and Audience Services crew plays an important role: They are the first volunteers that SummerFest-goers see when they arrive and often the last ones they see when they leave. This crew is responsible for checking for valid wrist tickets or access passes, ticketing (selling and taking), answering patron questions, distributing and collecting audience surveys. These volunteers should have customer service skills, problem solving abilities, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. This is a great crew for sociable folks who can handle the hustle-and-bustle of rush-times and be good ambassadors for SummerFest.

Environmental Clean Up

The Environmental Clean Up Crew promotes environmental awareness and ensures the park remains clean. Duties include ‘de-littering’ the site, making sure there is enough toilet paper in the biffies, re-stocking hand-sanitizer and collecting garbage and recycling bins. If you have the ‘green’ in you, consider joining this dedicated group of volunteers! Be prepared to walk, get a little dirty and have a great time on this fun crew! Comfortable shoes and a hat are recommended.

Environmental Recycling

This is a sub-crew of Environmental Clean Up. If you have a passion for recycling, this may be the opportunity for you. Our Recycling crew is responsible for collecting all recyclable materials on site. This is a great opportunity to make a difference. We look for people that can work independently and can walk for 4 hours at a time.

Fun Run

What better way to start SummerFest than with the Fun Run!  The volunteers in this area mark the route, register participants, direct runners, hand out water and cheer the runners on.  If you are a morning person the fun run is the spot for you!

Kids Zone

The volunteers in our Kids Zone assist with bouncers, games and hands-on activities for SummerFest kids. It is the job of this crew to ensure that everyone in the Kids Zone has a safe and enjoyable time. We are looking for team players with patience, creativity and lots of energy to work in this area. Please note that joining this crew is open to youth age 12 and up. This is a great way to start your volunteering for the festival.

SummerFest Market

SummerFest Market is a shopping area featuring artists, crafters and service providers. These volunteers assist with artisan set up and tear down, provide storage support and hospitality for artisans, and solve problems related to the area. They also check in with the vendors periodically to make sure everything is running smoothly. Volunteers should have skills in the area of customer service and problem solving, as well as the strength to carry product.

Kick Off/Volunteer Appreciation Party

Do you know how to throw a really good party? We’re looking for hosts-with-the-most to join this crew! Volunteers of the Party crew are responsible for coordinating the Ticket Kick-Off Party (in May) and Volunteer Appreciation Party (after the festival). Bar service, food handling and customer service skills are assets.

Photography

Our Photography Crew volunteers are all keen photographers with a good general knowledge of SummerFest. It is their job to capture memorable moments during the Festival weekend. If you are interested in joining this crew, please give our office a call.

Logistics

Our Logistics crew is responsible for transporting materials, supplies and passengers on the site (usually by hand but sometimes with golf carts and small vehicles). A valid driver’s license is mandatory. In addition, we look for people with customer service skills, organizational ability, physical strength and endurance, and problem solving skills. Logistics team members work closely with the bar and with the Main Gate.

Security - Main Gate

Main Gate Security are problem solvers extraordinaire! This crew takes great pride in being able to solve any problem that arises at the main gate and they support the Entry Services team too. They direct vehicles in and out of the main gate and make sure they travel through the site safely. They also assist with problems that arise at the entry gate. Volunteers interested in volunteering for this security position should have a good general knowledge of SummerFest activities, be able to problem solve well and be good communicators. They also need to have the ability to stand or walk for 4 hours and lift and carry as needed. This team works very closely with the Logistics Crew.

Pre-Post SummerFest

The Pre-Post festival volunteers work at almost anything that needs doing in the few weeks before and few days after SummerFest. They may, for example, be responsible for the placement and tear down of all SummerFest signs and banners or help making the park beautiful. This work takes place pre- and post-SummerFest. Knowledge of the site, physical fitness and a valid driver’s license are assets for joining this small crew.

Volunteer Check In

This fun crew provides services to volunteers on site. They do scheduling, fill-in’s for no shows, general information, lost badges, office supplies, express meal vouchers. A good general knowledge of, and experience at, SummerFest is imperative.

SummerFest would not be possible without the generosity of over a hundred volunteers that put in thousands of hours to make this extraordinary event possible. We do this because we love Parkland!
